Why taxis are economic

It all depends on useage whether taxis are more economic than having your own car.

How often do you need transportation and how far will you be going? Those are the first questions to ask. If you know that, you can get an idea about what your transportation costs for taxis would be on a regular basis.

Then, add up the cost of using your own vehicle for transportation:

– Car payments, if applicable

– Gas

– Repairs, even vehicles under warranty will need new tires, filters, etc.

– Insurance

– Parking and garaging fees

Compare the two, if it is less expensive to use a taxi service that may be the way to go. Some taxi companies will even give a discount if they take you to the same place everyday at the same time – work, school, etc. (It makes it easy for them to schedule, it is a guaranteed fare, and they may let you pay weekly or monthly.)

Why not use mass transit – subways and busses – instead. Lack of privacy, security and door-to-door service.
